Wakiil was born with a focus on Somali businesses and the realities of operating in East Africa.

Businesses here are ambitious, fast-moving, and increasingly digital — but the tools available to them are not always designed around how they actually work.

We build for that reality.

That means thinking about mobile-first operations, messaging-based customer relationships, local workflows, multiple branches, different payment methods, limited administrative time, and the practical needs of owners and managers.

How it started

Why should businesses have to adapt to software that was never built for the way they actually work?

We saw businesses managing important work through WhatsApp messages, paper records, spreadsheets, phone calls, and disconnected tools. The problem wasn't a lack of ambition or effort. The tools simply didn't fit the reality of the businesses using them.

So we started small.

Instead of trying to build everything at once, we focused on one real business, one real workflow, and one problem at a time. We listened, mapped how the business actually operated, and built around it.

That first experience taught us something important: the best technology starts with understanding the business, not the other way around.

Since then, that same approach has expanded beyond a single industry — into ordering, operations, customer communication, appointments, automation, and AI-powered business systems.

We're still building the same way we started:

Start small. Solve something real. Learn from how it's used. Then build what comes next.
